Earth's climate better than it has been for at least 500 years.
The cold centuries from 1300 to 1800 are history.
The slight warming since 1850 is good news.
I hope for more warming.
The increase of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the air since 1850 is greening the Earth.
So of course I hope for more CO2 in the air.
The 4.5 billion years of Earth's climate history is a compilation of rough estimates.
These rough estimates are from studies of ice cores, and other proxies of the past climate.
We know for sure that Earth's climate is always warming, or cooling.
We also know at least five times our planet was covered with a lot more ice than we have today.
Real time temperature measurements have only been compiled since 1880.
Those measurements cover only a short period of time -- less than 0.0001% of Earth's history.
And those measurements were ONLY made during the warming half of a full warming/cooling cycle.
Ice core studies suggest there have been about 600 mild warming/cooling cycles in the past one million years.
(Note that the current warming trend began in roughly 1850, after many cool centuries from 1300 to 1800, and no one knows when the next cooling trend will start).
The warming since 1880 is claimed to be about one degree C. so far -- never mentioned is the margin of error of at least +/- 1 degree C.
That refers to the average temperature of our planet -- a difficult to compile statistic.
I'm not sure why anyone would care about the average temperature, because we all live in local temperatures -- not an average.
Most 1800s thermometers tend to read low, so the actual warming since 1880 is most likely overstated.
That conservative margin of error means there may actually be no warming since 1880 … or the warming could be +2 degrees. C.
Some "global warmunists" try to scare people by claiming + 2 degrees C. of warming since the Industrial Age would be extremely dangerous.
They never reveal their +2 degrees C. number was pulled out of a hat, and there are no scientific studies to back it up -- +2 degrees C. was originally from an economist, many decades ago, who obviously was wild guessing.
Even worse, the scaremongering ignores reality: There has already been +5 to +10 degrees C. warming in the past 15,000 years ... and that warming has been wonderful news for humans, animals and plants.
15,000 years ago, my property in Michigan, USA was under a mile or two of ice.
Since then, natural warming melted glaciers, increasing Earth's sea level by over 400 feet.
The melting of all that ice was not caused by coal power plants and SUVs burning gasoline.
And I'm glad the ice on my property melted long before I bought my home in Michigan … because I can't ice skate!
If Earth's climate is always changing, and is currently better than it has been in at least 500 years, then why does climate change get so much attention?
The answer:
Politicians know that scaring people about something allows them to seize more power, because people in fear WANT their government to 'do something'.
Climate change scaremongering is a political tool used by leftist politicians to gain power.
Unfortunately, politicians have hired lots of climate modelers as their 'props' to scare people, using grossly inaccurate computer game predictions of the climate 100 years into the future.
These leftist politicians want:
(1) More control over the private sector economy,
(2) Taxing corporations for energy use for revenues to pay for social programs as baby-boomers retire (Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and federal employee pensions),
(3) An excuse for the slow economic growth their socialism delivers ("we need to save the planet"), and
(4) Micro-managing people's lives, because they think ordinary people are too dumb to make their own decisions.
If the predictions are scary enough, the so called 'scientists' get government grants for "further study" (for them "study" is playing computer games in comfortable air conditioned offices, while collecting big salaries).
I guess most people don't realize climate modeler 'predictions' have been wrong for the past 40 years -- that's never mentioned in the mainstream press.
97% of climate model simulations have predicted more warming than actually happened, often by a large amount.
And yet the global climate models, and the false climate physics assumptions they are based on (CO2 is the climate controller), are NEVER changed ... because scaring people is the primary goal.
