Ocean Temperatures: Introducing "The Blob"

NASA claimed a record-high global ocean surface temperature in 2014.
.
Don't get excited:
- This is only a record since the late 1800s -- NOT a record high for the past 4.5 billion years of Earth's history.
.
Don't get excited:
- All the measurements were made DURING a warming trend that began about 1850 -- that means record highs are EXPECTED until the warming trend ends, and a cooling trend begins.
.
In case you didn't know, because leftists don't want anyone to know, Earth's average temperature is ALWAYS rising or falling.
.
The estimated range of Earth's average temperature in the past 4.5 billion tears is at least 10 degrees C.
.
Global warming alarmists claim the average temperature rose +1 degree C. since the mid-1800s, with a margin of error is at least +/- 1 degree C.
.
The change in the roughly estimated average temperature since the mid-1800s is perfectly normal for our planet, and the slight warming was good news because the years from 1300 to 1800 were unusually cool.
.
Of course the "new record" temperature in 2014 was blamed on greenhouse gases -- leftists falsely blame all weather and climate events on CO2.
.
But if greenhouse gases really caused the ocean warming in recent years, then the surface temperatures of MOST oceans should be at or near record high temperatures … but that is NOT what happened -- not even close!
.
Ocean surface temperatures in 2014 were NOT at record highs in the:
-- Arctic Ocean (near a record high)
-- North Atlantic
-- South Atlantic
-- Western half of Northern Pacific
-- South Pacific
-- Indian Ocean
-- Southern Ocean surrounding Antarctica
(actually cooled -0.2 degrees C. in the past 20 years)
.
ONLY the Eastern half of the Northern Pacific Ocean set a new record !
.
That's only a quarter of the Pacific Ocean.
.
And that quarter of the Pacific Ocean allegedly had a hard to believe +0.8 degrees C. of warming from 2012 to 2014.
.
+0.8 degrees C. is a HUGE amount of local warming in just two years!
.
Compare +0.8 degrees C. local warming in two years with +1.0 degrees C. of global warming in 135 years (1880 to 2015).
.
The claimed warming in the northeastern quarter of the Pacific Ocean from 2012 to 2014 was THE cause of the record high ocean temperature in 2014 …
.
… and the record high ocean temperature in 2014 was THE cause of the record high surface temperature in 2014 (land + ocean).
.
The northeast Pacific Ocean is just west of Canada and the US,

Strangely, there was no warming there from 1995 to 2012 -- and then a huge amount of warming from 2012 to 2014.
.
That area of the Pacific Ocean was nicknamed "The Blob" by some scientists in 2013.
.
Warming in "The Blob" was not caused by CO2.
.
It was caused by an unusually strong and persistent weather pattern -- much higher than normal pressure over that area of the Pacific Ocean.
.
The persistent high-pressure ridge caused a calmer ocean during the past two winters.
.
That means warming in "The Blob" was due to less winter cooling than normal.
.
In 2014 NASA claimed the average surface temperature of Earth was +0.02 degrees C. warmer than in 2012 = a new post-1880 record.
.
It was puzzling to hear average temperature reported in hundredths of a degree, because NASA claims their margin of error is +/- 0.1 degrees C. … which makes the two hundredths of a degree warming required to set the "new record" in 2014 meaningless.
.
Note 1:
I believe the +/- one tenth of a degree C. margin of error NASA claims is grossly understated. Measurements in the 1800s and early 1900s had a margin of error of at least +/- 1 degree C.
.
Note 2:
The much more accurate NASA weather satellites, measuring in the troposphere, did NOT reflect record high global temperatures in 2014.
.
Their peak warm year was 1998 (since launch in 1979) … so of course satellite temperature data are NOT mentioned in annual NASA "warmest year ever" press releases!
