Earth’s climate is always warming or cooling. There has been a significant warming trend for the past 15,000 years, after the last glaciation peak.
That warming was not started by SUVs, or coal burning, and is likely to be at least +5 degrees C. so far.
And sea level is up over 400 feet so far -- but don't worry, because the annual sea level rise today is much less than it was thousands of years ago -- very slow, and not accelerating.
The years from 1300 to 1800 were cool centuries -- especially cool in the late 1600s, during a period with unusually low solar activity, which is called the Maunder Minimum.
Its likely the average temperature of our planet has increased +2 degree C. since that Maunder Minimum trough.
After those cool centuries we should be thankful there has been a mild warming trend since about 1850 -- the average temperature is roughly estimated to be up only about +1 degrees C. (+/- 1 degree C.) in the 165 years since 1850.
Ho hum -- that size average temperature change is nothing unusual for our planet.
Climate history scientists believe at times there have been larger variations in just a few decades.
All the average temperature measurements you hear in the news were made DURING that post-1850 warming trend.
Measuring only during a warming trend means there will be many “record highs” until the warming trend ends -- they should not make the headlines in newspapers.
If "record highs" stop happening for a decade, that should be front page news -- it would tell us a new cooling trend began.
According to weather satellite data, the average temperature did not have any record highs from 1998 through 2015 -- I bet your favorite media sources didn't bother telling you about that!
Antarctica and Greenland ice core studies identified hundreds of mild warming/cooling cycles in the past one million years -- the mainstream press refuses to report that alternating warming and cooling trends are normal for our planet.
The mainstream press loves scary predictions of a coming climate crisis … even though the predictions have been wrong for 40 years ... so far.
There is no indication in climate history studies that CO2 level changes ever caused average temperature changes.
But there is evidence of the opposite: Average temperature changes caused CO2 level changes with a multi-hundred year lag.
In addition, since greenhouse gases are invisible to sunlight, CO2 would not affect daytime high temperatures — the primary effect would be slowing Earth's infrared heat rising toward space as a portion of our planet cools at night -- so there could be a slightly warmer nighttime low temperature.
And that's assuming CO2 had any effect at all.
The UN's IPCC claims most of the alleged greenhouse effect is from the first 40 ppmv of CO2 in the air.
They say the direct effect of CO2 will be tiny when CO2 increases above the current concentration of 400 ppmv..
The real danger they claim, with no proof, is secondary positive feedbacks from more CO2 in the air, leading to runaway warming.
Runaway warming is something that has never before happened on our planet, even with CO2 levels up to 20 times higher than today, according to geologists.
There is little doubt Earth's climate in 2015 is better than it has been for humans and plants in at least 500 years.
We should be enjoying the improved climate, but blabbermouth leftists won't let us.
We have slightly warmer nighttime low temperatures that are more comfortable for people, and Earth is greening from more airborne fertilizer CO2 in the air.
This improved climate has been ruined by 40 years (so far) of wrong predictions about a coming climate catastrophe.
The climate computer games have been making grossly inaccurate predictions for 40 years, and have been a complete waste of taxpayer money.
The coming climate change catastrophe is a left-wing fantasy based on a wrong climate physics model.
The false claim that CO2 is the 'climate controller' is made in spite of no evidence of this in Earth's history, even in the past 75 years.
In the past 75 years, CO2 levels increased every year while we had mild global cooling for 35 years, moderate uneven global warming for 25 tears, and then a flat average temperature trend for 15 years.
Reality is very different from the predictions made by government climate "astrologers" and their climate computer games.
The climate has been getting better for all of your life -- just a small change, but better.
The slight warming since the mid-1800s is probably overstated because 1800s thermometers tend to read low.
The average temperature of the world was in a flat trend between 2005 and 2015 -- the average US temperature actually got cooler in that period.
Since measurements began in the late 1800s, the hottest decade for the US, by far, was back in the 1930's.
Each year our government arbitrarily "adjusts" historical temperature data, for no good reason.
Bureaucrats eventually made enough "adjustments" to change that reality -- now they claim the 1930s were not as warm as the late 1990s.
They claim that in spite of the fact that far more US states have temperature records showing their hottest year on record was in the 1930s, than in the 1990s.
I guess the federal 'goobermint' forgot to force the 48 contiguous states to rewrite their own climate history data!
The quantity of lying by government politicians and their 'computer gamers', who call themselves "climate scientists," is huge.
That's why this blog exists.
And please don't complain about global warming in the US in the past 10 years ... unless you think the official measurements showing cooling are wrong.
Don't worry about climate astrology and scary climate change catastrophe predictions.
Defy the smarmy leftists by being logical and happy about the climate.
