I'm back

Sorry I've not been online for quite a while for a vacation, a death in the family, getting the first draft of my January February 2017 economics newsletter done, my cat ate my papers, and I have been investigating whether or not the Russians have hacked my three blogs!

There will be new posts here later today, after  my fingers thaw out from the cold weather in Michigan.  Not much snow this year. Only because I bought two new expensive snow shovels before the winter and promised the wife I would help her shovel the driveway when the snow was too high to drive over with our front wheel drive Toyota Camrys (built in Kentucky)!

The winter of 2013 / 2014 set a record for snowfall in the Detroit metropolitan area. That's the winter our water meter froze in the garage, for the first time since 1987 when we moved in.

It took a big rented propane heater five hours to warm up the garage enough to thaw the pipes. After 25+ years of "global warming", I suddenly had to pay $300 to replace a frozen and cracked water meter!

We live about five miles north of Detroit in the tiny village of Bingham Farms. It was the fastest growing community in Michigan in the 1980s, when a new 500-resident condo complex was built, immediately doubling the village's  population.

In the 1990s, Bill Clinton visited our village twice for private fund raising events at a resident's home -- he was then appointed the Ambassador to Norway. All I know about him is that he was Jewish, probably knew nothing about Norway, and his property was so large, that when we first moved in, we drove down his driveway thinking it must be a public road to a village or county park.

Our village is so tiny it rents police and fire services from the neighboring village of Franklin, Michigan. There's a fire hydrant on the street in front of my house, but the fire department is five miles away in Franklin!  If there's ever a fire, I hope my garden hose can put it out!

New posts coming soon.

Until then, remember these basic "leftist facts" about global warming:

  - If its cold outside, that's just the weather, but If its warm outside, that's climate change!
