Actual average
maximum temperature
thermometer data
for California
shows no net change
over the past century,
prior to 2012,
and then a huge,
mysterious warming
in the past six years
that makes no sense !
The Chart Below
is the California raw data
average maximum
temperature vs. year
for 1900 to 2017:
The post 2012 heat spike
makes no sense
because there are
53 USHCN
weather stations
in California,
but only nine
show warming
since 2012,

It seems that
over time
a "warming trend"
had been caused
by adding four stations
in hot areas to the
state average.
The four 'hot stations'
added over time,
pushed the temperature up
on the right side
of the chart.
Brawley was added in 1910,
Blythe was added in 1913,
Needles was added in 1940, and
Death Valley was added in 1961.
If those four stations
are removed,
then the California
average maximum
temperature
shows no trend.
