Antarctica - crack in the Brunt Ice Shelf has nothing to do with climate change = claims that it does are science fraud !

SUMMARY:
The Halley, Antarctica station
sits on a floating platform of ice.

The Halley British Antarctic Survey
was moved in 2017, to get it away
from a large crack in the ice.

Someday, a giant "Halley" iceberg
is expected to break away
from the Antarctica ice shelf
near Britain’s Halley research
base.

Glacier 'break away'
is called "calving".

The eventual iceberg ,
in the Weddell Sea,
is expected to be the size
of Greater London !

When the calving occurs,
you can be sure it will be
blamed on "climate change".

In fact, it will have nothing to do
with "climate change".

DETAILS:
Scientists Jan De Rydt and
Hilmar Gudmundsson
have spent years studying
the area.

They say the calving
will be the result of
natural processes,
not global warming
( which has skipped
Antarctica, for
unknown reasons ).

Jan De Rydt and
Hilmar Gudmundsson
have built a model
to describe the behavior
of the floating ice
( the Brunt Ice Shelf ).

The Brunt Ice Shelf
is glacier ice that has flowed
off land, and pushed out to sea,
moving at a rate of about
400 meters per year.

Based on satellite and
surface-gathered data,
the team’s model reveals
how stress is distributed
across the 150-250 meter
-thick ice structure.

It predicts accurately
where cracks are likely
to develop, and the path
they will take.

Proffessor Gudmundsson said:
"It shows that the chasm started to grow
because of the stresses building up,
and they built up because of the
natural growth of the ice shelf.

The ice shelf itself created this chasm."

Notice that Gudmundsson said:
"... natural growth of the ice shelf."

Wasn’t ‘climate change’ supposed to
be causing glaciers to retreat,
rather than growing ?

Famous explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton
mapped the Brunt ice shelf front edge
in 1915 -- and the modern front edge
grew well beyond what he saw in 1915:

More calving seems overdue.

To the east of the Halley crack,
is the "Halloween" crack,
named after its discovery
date of October 31, 2016.

That crack is likely to produce
its own iceberg some day.

"There is no indication from
oceanographic or atmospheric data
that the climate is changing
in the Brunt area,"
Dr De Rydt told BBC News.

"Our ocean observations are limited,
but whatever we have doesn’t indicate
anything unusual; and our model shows
that what we are seeing can be perfectly
explained by natural changes in the
geometry of the ice shelf."

Satellites show the climate,
in that particular region,
has NOT CHANGED in the
past forty years.

I hope Dr. De Rydt
does not lose funding
for telling the truth !

GLACIERS 101:
Glaciers are rivers of ice.

Glaciers on land,
and any Ice shelves
extending over water,
naturally flow to the sea,
because heavy snow
is building up on them.

They flow slowly
down to the sea.

Then portions of ice,
no longer supported
by land underneath,
break off ( "calving" ).

That's the way icebergs
have always formed.

Climate alarmists
must not understand
that if big chunks of ice
did not break off edges
the Antarctica glacier,
every now and then,
that Antarctica ice
would eventually
expand to cover
the whole Southern
Ocean !
