Global warming is assumed
to be caused by a very small
imbalance between absorbed
sunlight, and infrared energy
lost to outer space when
the planet cools.
Increasing atmospheric CO2
from fossil fuel burning
is said to disrupt the cooling.
But the climate
on our planet
is always changing.
All global warming,
natural or man made,
looks about the same.
Claiming global warming
is mainy caused
by CO2 levels rising
is based on faith.
The only science
is lab experiments
in a closed system,
using artificially dried air,
to prove that CO2
acts as a greenhouse gas.
CO2 is a greenhouse gas
in a laboratory, but much
less important than
the main greenhouse gas
(water vapor), which has
some overlapping effects.
That's why CO2 should
be most effective
as a greenhouse gas
in dry climates, rather than
humid climates in the tropics.
And we do measure far more
global warming in the Arctic,
than in the tropics.
But Antarctica does not have
warming that could be blamed
on a greenhouse gas.
The actual effect of CO2 in
the atmosphere is assumed,
and can not be measured.
When computer climate models
are constructed, global-average
energy flows in and out
of the climate system
do not balance.
Modelers make adjustments
until they do balance.
Then, they add the effect
of increasing CO2, based on
a formula from the 1970s,
which causes an energy
imbalance if CO2 levels rise.
The energy imbalance
causes global warming
from rising CO2
predictions from
the models.
The climate models
merely demonstrate
what the programmers
assumed would happen.
A climate model is a complex
version of a personal opinion
about the effects of CO2.
Model predictions, as a group,
are for consistent, significant
global warming, possibly
dangerous in a century or two.
But actual measurements
are of inconsistent, mild,
and harmless global warming,
at one third the rate predicted.
No one knows
how much warming
CO2 causes, if any,
but many people
have faith that they
do know.
They have so much faith
that they have been making
the same wrong climate
prediction in every year
since the 1970s:
( CO2 level up 100%
will cause +3 C.
of global warming ).
