Electric cars = thumbs up, or thumbs down ?

Here in southeastern Michigan
I see Teslas almost every day
when I drive somewhere.

I still call them "coal cars",
because our DTE energy
uses coal for 64% of their
electricity generation.

That's an unusually
high percentage,
but it was a fact
for DTE in 2018 --
making Teslas charged
with DTE Energy
electricity into
"64% Coal Cars"

Climate alarmists include
some people who think
lifestyle changes will
let us stop emitting
"planet-killing CO2".
( I see CO2 as being beneficial
for our planet, based on real science )

Electric cars are
an important part
of their "solution".

When they run,
electric cars
don’t give off
much pollution.

But where does the power
that charges their batteries
come from?

In Australia, China, India,
Indonesia, and the
Philippines, from
lots of coal.

When lots of coal is used
to generate electricity,
an electric car will have
more CO2 emissions than
a small gasoline-
powered car.

The Chinese government
cut back its subsidies
for electric cars,
for the first time ever,
and then worldwide sales
of the vehicles fell.

Electric vehicles
might be a good idea
if they outperformed
gasoline vehicles,
but they do not.
