The IPCC (Intergovernmental
Panel on Climate Change)
is a political organization.
The members are governments.
The governments read and modify
IPCC summary documents
before they’re officially made public.
Detailed back-up documents
are released months later,
so reporters who read them
(maybe a few) will not realize
the summaries do NOT
fairly summarize the details.
The conclusions are
drawn from thousands
of peer-reviewed studies.
In climate science, studies
that do not demonize CO2
rarely get published --
there are "pal reviews",
but not unbiased
peer reviews.
Diplomats and scientists
argue about how facts
are "spun" for the public.
Political considerations
determine what gets
left in, or taken out.
The IPCC asks scientists
to read published research
on its behalf, and decide
what it means.
IPCC reports
are not science.
They are interpretations
and judgment calls.
Scientists are invited
to help write a certain
chapter of a report.
They are given a
chapter title and outline
that can't be changed.
Afterward, some of the scientists
are tasked with writing a summary
of the larger, overall report.
Their Summary for Policymakers
gets rewritten by politicians, diplomats,
and bureaucrats, during a multi-day
negotiation.
After the summary
of its recent report
about climate change
and land use was re-written
at one of these meetings,
125 separate changes
were made to the
underlying report.
15 changes
were made
to Chapter 1.
More than 30 changes
were made to Chapter 5.
Even definitions were negotiated.
This is how the IPCC operates.
The negotiated Summary for
Policymakers becomes
the climate alarmist "bible".
