HUMAN ACTIVITY
PRODUCES CO2:
Human activity is the
primary cause of the
last 40% increase
in atmospheric CO2.
Human activity
accounts for
roughly double
the annual
CO2 increase,
so it's assumed
that plants absorb
half the increase.
Based only on
lab experiments,
the added CO2
could slow cooling
of our planet, which
would result in a
higher daily average
temperature.
But that's just
an assumption --
natural causes of
climate change
could cause
warming too.
After 4.5 billion years
of natural climate change,
it is the duty of climate
alarmists to PROVE that
the mild intermittent
global warming since
1880 is caused by human
action.
Such proof does not exist
-- merely asserting something
is true, and character attacking
anyone who disagrees,
is NOT real science.
The coming climate change
catastrophe is an assumption
NOT supported by any
real science.
CO2 may have warmed
the troposphere, which
warmed the planet's surface,
but there have been long
periods of rising CO2,
and NO global warming
( 1940 to 1975 ).
An increase of
about +1 degree C.
since 1880 is claimed,
based on
VERY poor data
from the 1800's,
having VERY poor
global coverage.
GLOBAL WARMING
HAS BEEN
GOOD NEWS:
Global warming
has not been
a climate disaster,
and is very unlikely
to EVER become
a climate disaster.
Past global warming
has NOT been bad news.
Past climate change
has been 100% good news !
Earth's surface is 'greening',
from more CO2 airborne plant
food in the air.
The global warming since
1979 is NOT what people
assume -- it's mainly warming
in the higher, colder latitudes,
mainly in the coldest
six months of the year,
and mainly at night.
If you lived in a cold area,
such as Alaska, that's
very good news.
Modern society
can't function
without energy.
We abandoned
renewable energy,
burning wood,
in the 19th century,
for good reason.
Nuclear energy
has worked well
in France
since the 1980s,
but leftists oppose it,
for no logical reason.
After over 30 years
of warnings, getting
more hysterical every
year, CO2 levels
in the atmosphere
are still growing.
Meanwhile,
the United States
is having an
unusually cool
year (in 2019) !
THE FUTURE CLIMATE:
Human civilization
only developed during
the current holocene
interglacial
( an unusually warm
period, lasting roughly
10,000 years, once
in every 100,000 years ),
that could end tomorrow,
or in a thousand years.
ACCURATE
TEMPERATURE
MEASUREMENTS ?
How accurate
are the compilations
of the global average
temperature ?
Not very accurate,
and the numbers
keep changing !
Repeated data "adjustments",
explain why temperatures
are now reported as being
+0.25C warmer than
originally reported in 2012:
THE WEATHER STATIONS:
Weather stations
were read manually,
by an operator,
until the early 1990s.
Nearly all weather
stations contained
a maximum / minimum
thermometer --
a linked, dual glass bulb
thermometer, where the
mercury on one side
could only move up,
and not down,
and vice versa
on the other side.
Automated weather stations
were introduced in the 1980s,
and replaced manual weather
stations by the late 1990s.
They log temperatures
automatically every hour.
In the late 19th century,
weather stations
were mainly in Europe
and in the U.S.:
Even today, large parts
of Africa and South America
have no weather stations
... yet NASA-GISS will guess
the temperatures there
( required for compiling
a global average temperature ),
and has the nerve to claim
"record heat" based on
their temperature guesses !
The ocean temperature
was measured by ships
until after the 1980s, using
(1) wooden buckets,
(2) canvas buckets and
(3) engine room cooling water
intake temperatures.
Obviously at many
different depths.
For the early years,
ocean temperature data
followed popular
shipping routes,
covering only a
small percentage
of the world's oceans.
After the 1980s,
drifting buoys
were deployed.
It is almost impossible
to get the raw daily
temperature data
from individual weather
stations, as originally
recorded.
But we can compare
raw versus "adjusted"
data for a whole country.
Below are data for Australia:
The raw data don’t show
warming after 1980, but
homogenized "adjusted"
data do.
Minimum daily temperatures
occur at night over land areas.
Nights have been warming
faster than days, since 1950.
If we study the maximum (day)
and minimum (night) adjusted
data for Australia (ACORN SAT),
it's mainly warming at night
( minimum temperatures rising,
are the primary cause of the
rising average temperature ).
Temperature anomalies
are changes in temperatures,
versus a 30-year base period
for each station.
For their base period,
CRU uses 1961-1990,
GISS uses 1959-1980 and
NCDC uses the 20th century.
Anomalies are averaged
within each surface grid cell,
and then combined
in a weighted average,
to derive a global
temperature anomaly.
HadCRUT4 and NCDC use
a simple (5 degree latitude /
5 degree longitude) binning.
GISS uses about 8,000
equal area cells for binning.
Empty bins (grid cells)
with no data, or bins
with some weather stations
not reporting, require guesses
made by government bureaucrats,
hopefully using temperatures
from nearby bins.
