ACTUAL FACTS:
38% of UK electricity from natural gas
20% of electricity from wind
6% of electricity from solar
26% wind and solar combined
26% is NOT larger than 38%
Ms. Figueres is not accurate !
To make Ms. Figueres appear more accurate than she actually is, I will assume that what she meant to say was "electricity" generation, not "energy" generation.
Remember that
"biomass" is mainly
burning wood pellets,
and wood chips,
called a "renewable,
but burning
biomass
does create
a lot of CO2
emissions
instantly,
while
"renewing"
forests
takes a
long time
assuming
they are
renewed.
The land may be
more valuable
for something else,
after all the trees
have been cut down !
