Why are there so many volcanoes all around the world, recently ?

SUMMARY:
A large increase
of seismic activity
so far in 2020.

Unusual
earthquake
activity
all over
the world.

Why?

As usual,
real science
has many
more questions
than answers !

DETAILS:
PUERTO RICO:
Puerto Rico
experienced
more than
1,000 earthquakes.
since the beginning
of 2020, then was
hit by a magnitude
5.9 quake.

The 5.9 earthquake
caused more damage
along the island’s
southern coast,
where previous
recent quakes
have toppled
homes and
schools.

The U.S. Geological Survey
said the quake hit 8 miles
( 13 kilometers )
southeast of Guanica
at a shallow
depth of 3 miles
( 5 kilometers ).

PHILIPPINES:
Data from the
Philippine Institute
of Volcanology
and Seismology:

The Taal volcano
is the volcano
getting most
global attention,
although steam,
ash and pebbles
reached only
10 to 15 kilometers
   ( 6 to 9 miles )
into the sky.

But clouds of ash
blew more than
100 kilometers
    ( 62 miles )
north, reaching
Manila,
forcing the
shutdown of
the country’s
main airport,
with hundreds of
domestic flights
cancelled.

All flights
at Ninoy Aquino
International Airport
had to be suspended
due to the volcano ash
that lingers in the
atmosphere
for a long time.

ALASKA
In early 2020,
an  important
volcano
in Alaska
shot hot ash
25,000 feet
  ( 4.7 miles )
into the air

Shishaldin Volcano
in Alaska sent up
an initial ash cloud
to 19,000 feet
     ( 3.6 miles ).

A few hours later
a higher volume
of ash went
to 25,000 feet
    (  4.7 miles ) !

MEXICO:
Mt. Popocatepetl
in Mexico
shot hot ash
up 20,000 feet
     ( 3.8 miles )
into the sky.

Popocatépetl
is about 40 miles
southeast of
Mexico City.

About 26
million people
live within
60 miles of
Popocatepetl’s
crater.

PERU:
The Sabancaya
volcano in Peru
just shot a plume
of volcanic ash
about 24,000 feet
    ( 4.5 miles )
into the air.
