Keeping people
in their homes,
but letting planes
come and go,
is stupid.
The UK has
locked down
its people,
but still has
open borders !
The UK government
sabotages their lockdown
by flying in the virus
through open borders
with no strict quarantine,
like most other countries
in the world already have.
New UK quarantine
rules are coming
in June.
Meanwhile, the UK
is giving everyone
a few more weeks
so that they can
avoid the new
two-week
quarantine.
If they come back
during May, they
are supposed
to voluntarily
stay at home
for seven days,
and “only” go out
to pharmacies
and other shops,
deemed "essential",
including their
workplace,
during that week.
If the UK government
were serious about
slowing the caseload,
they'd have started
and enforced a two week
quarantine immediately.
There must be
thousands
of spare rooms
at UK hotels now
that would love
the quarantine
business.
UK airlines say they
have been told the
government will bring
in a 14-day quarantine
for anyone arriving
in the UK from
any country, except
the Republic of Ireland.
People arriving in the UK
would have to self-isolate
at a private residence,
and may be expected
to provide an address
when they arrive
at the border.
Coronavirus is raging
in Moscow, but Russians
can fly to Heathrow !
For seven weeks of the
UK lockdown, people have
been flying straight in
to the UK without even
a temperature check.
Although Healthrow
just announced
it will do a trial with
some thermometers,
and ask people
to wear masks.
In the UK,
18 million people
arrived from
January 1, 2020
to March 22, 2020.
Of the 18 million,
only 273 people
were quarantined.
Since then,
the flight traffic
has continued,
but at only 1%
of normal levels,
because nearly
every other country
closed their borders,
and most people
don’t want to fly.
That is still
10,000 people
arriving every day
in the UK with no
mandatory,
enforced
quarantine.
Which may explain
why the UK COVID-19
cases are not declining,
despite the lockdown.
AUSTRALIA:
In Australia,
everyone flying in
is escorted to a hotel,
prevented from leaving,
and fed and guarded
for two weeks.
That’s a real quarantine.
But ...
In Victoria, Australia,
20% of those in isolation
flouted the rules and
were caught going out --
of the 751 spot checks
carried out at homes
and businesses by police,
almost one in five
were found to be
breaching the recently
implemented laws.
