Coal is a cheap
and consistent
energy source
for generating
electricity.
The combustion
of coal is also the
most important
source of CO2
emissions.
So phasing out
coal use is an
important goal
of most plans to
reduce CO2
emissions.
Coal also causes
more air pollution
than it's competitor,
natural gas, so promotes
more respiratory disease.
Replacing coal with
natural gas is not
good enough, say
the climate alarmists.
Even phasing out
coal AND natural gas
is not good enough, say
the climate alarmists.
Almost full-scale
de-carbonization
of electricity
production
is their goal.
The world’s largest
CO2 emitters are
China, India,
Europe and
the US.
China and India
do not seem
very interested
in phasing out coal !
