The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself

The coming
climate "crisis"
is imaginary,
and not based
on real science.

The coming global
warming crisis
claims started
in the late 1950s.

But there was
global cooling
from 1940 to 1975,
so it was hard
to warn people
about global
warming until
the late 1970s.

In fact,
a few scientists
got a lot of attention
in the mid-1970s,
by predicting a coming
global COOLING crisis.

Other scientists noted
how much attention
scary global cooling
predictions got from
the mass media,
and began using that
strategy to publicize
their own predictions
of a coming global
warming crisis.

In the past 50 years
it did get slightly warmer,
but the areas with the
most warming were
the colder northern
half of the Northern
Hemisphere, during the
six coldest months
of the year,
and at night !

Good timing,
and location,
for mild warming !

The warming
was good news,
not bad news !

The mainstream media
will not discuss details
of past global w\arming .

They use a single
global average
statistic.

It's easy to arbitrarily
"adjust", by government
bureaucrats who WANT
to see lots of warming.

Because it is not
a real measurement.

The average temperature
is a temperature that
no one lives in !

So after 50 years,
why do government
bureaucrats keep
predicting a coming
climate crisis ?

Because a crisis,
whether real,
or imagined,
can be used
promote an
expansion of
government power.

And there is nothing
leftists want more
than a more powerful
government, run by
them, and staffed by
fellow "deep state"
leftist bureaucrats !

The political
response to
COVID-19
has been
greatly
expanded
government
power.

Government power
usually expands
during a crisis,
and rarely shrinks
all the way back
when the crisis
is over.

Most government
growth  occurs
during emergencies,
when politicians enact
“temporary” programs
and regulations
that never get fully
abolished.

New Deal bureaucracies
and subsidies persisted
long after the Depression.

The U.S. military
didn’t revert all the way
back to its prewar size
after the world wars.

The basic psychological
effect is negativity bias
—the universal tendency
of negative emotions
to affect us more strongly
than positive ones.

The mass media gets attention
with a never-ending series
of crises, real or imagined.

We fear actual and
potential threats
to our health,
as an important
self defense
mechanism.

The government
will offer to
"prevent" or "fix"
nearly everything
that people fear.

Even before their
bewildered citizens
demand that their
politicians and officials
‘do something’,
to prevent further harm,
or fix the damage already
done.

Politicians, aided by
mass media hysteria,
use a crisis as
an opportunity
to spend more money,
create new programs,
and enact proposals
they could not
get implemented
before the crisis.

Bad events have
more impact than
good ones.

People work harder
to avoid losses than
they do to achieve gains.

So a new government
program will create
a powerful coalition
for it to be permanent !

The unprecedented shutdown
of the economy, and violation
of constitutional civil liberties,
happened in recent months,
with few protests.

Americans surrendered
their freedom willingly,
because of COVID-19
scaremongering.

Meanwhile, it appears that
99.97% of Americans will
survive the virus !

Climate change
alarmists are
very jealous
-- their claims
of a coming
climate crisis
are not so effective,
because they are
contradicted
by reality.

Global warming
is real, but has been
harmless in the
past 75 years,
so it's tough
to scare people
about a coming
global warming
crisis !
