Burning of “CO2-friendly” wood pellets is causing mass European deforestation. Germany’s ARD public broadcasting recently reported that “CO2 neutral” wood burning is leading to widespread deforestation across northern Europe. And it was Europeans who condemned deforestation in Brazil !
Satellite images show deforestation is up 49% since 2016 in Sweden, Finland and the Baltic countries. The reason: “Because of the CO2 targets. That sounds totally crazy, but precisely because of the trend to renewable energies is in part responsible for deforestation in Estonia,” says the Das Erste moderator. Liiana Steinberg explained how she recently returned to her native Estonia and was shocked by the deforestation over recent years (2:25). “I discovered how the forests no longer exists here left and right.”
All for making “CO2-neutral” wood pellets to burn for electricity.

The harvested trees were used for wood pellets – a form of renewable green energy. Not really green, and definitely not a clean energy source.
According to Ms. Steinberg, bird life has fallen 25%. “It’s wasted. Now we have to start all over again.” Climate alarmists, including the German media like ARD, have insisted burning trees was good for the climate and the environment because the emitted CO2 would simply be recycled back into nature.
But trees, depending on their age, acted as carbon sinks ... and burning them can release up to 100 years of stored carbon into the atmosphere in just hours. Michael Moore's recent movie, "Planet of the Humans", discussed this subject, and annoyed many climate alarmists.
The climate alarmists say they “follow the science” ... but there is no real science to prove adding CO2 to the atmosphere is dangerous. It has never been dangerous. Meanwhile, they “follow the accountants” -- the legal reality of how CO2 emissions accounting is done is all that matters.
There is no evidence that ripping out thousands of hectares of trees will do any good for the environment. It just makes profits for forest owners and wood chip processors, while giving the consumers of wood chips a chance to virtue signal.
Millions of years ago, Earth processes transformed dead creatures, plants and trees, into coal, oil and natural gas. Humans discovered the riches under the soil and found they could be used to improve living standards and food production. Now coal, oil and natural gas are called “poisons” -- nasty “carbon” we must reduce to “zero” ( impossible). This is a crazy anti-fossil fuel "religion".
