In 1988, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was formed by the United Nations. It was immediately obvious the group was set up ONLY to reach a predetermined political conclusion, not for a real scientific investigation of the physics of climate change. The only goal was to prove climate change was caused by man made CO2, from burning fossil fuels. That was believed to be extremely dangerous in the long run, so the UN needed to become a one world government over global climate change and energy use, based on the IPCC "science".
The IPCC science flaws were immediately obvious because there had been 4.5 billion years of natural causes of climate change, with no known man made causes of climate change before the industrial revolution. The IPCC arbitrarily declared that natural causes of climate change were now minor, and irrelevant. Not even worthy of their study! And never mind the past 4.5 billion years of natural causes of climate change.
Global warming alarmists, starting in the late1950's, and especially since the late 1980's, have blamed climate change on man-made CO2 emissions. Yet, pre-industrial history, determined from Antarctica ice cores, shows that CO2 peaks and troughs FOLLOWED temperature peaks and troughs by an average of hundreds of years!
The ice core derived temperature changes caused the CO2 level changes, as determined from over a half million years of ice core temperature and carbon dioxide (CO2) level reconstruction data. While climate alarmists ignore all ice core temperature estimates data, which doesn't fit their narrative, they do use ice core CO2 concentration estimates data for all their CO2 concentration estimates before 1958 measurements began in Hawaii.
The climate alarmists would have us believe that the temperature vs. CO2 level relationship reversed in the 20th century. They provide no explanation of how, or why, that could have happened. And no proof that it did happen. The change -- that CO2 levels suddenly became the "climate controller" -- is merely asserted with no proof. Skeptics of that claim are character attacked as "climate deniers" -- the preferred leftist style of "debate"
It's true that closed system lab experiments, using artificially dried air, suggest adding CO2 to the real atmosphere may cause mild, harmless global warming. But the amount of actual warming is unknown, and the IPCC still uses the same huge range of guesses that was popular in the 1979 The Charney Report: A doubling of the CO2 level will cause +1.5 to +4.5 degrees C. of global warming (of the global average temperature).
The wild guess of +3.0 degrees C. +/- 1.5 degrees C. is an enormous plus or minus 50 percent range. And a doubling of the CO2 level would take over 100 years. It appears that the wild guessed CO2 global warming range will be increasing for the IPCC meeting next year, is spite of the fact that actual measured global warming does not even reach the bottom of the +154 to +4.5 degree C. range per doubling of the CO2 concentration.
The actual warming since 1940, when CO2 emissions began rising at a faster rate than in the Great Depression decade, caused no global warming at all before 1975. There was -0.3 to -0.5 degrees C. of global COOLING in those 35 years, even as CO2 levels rose. That fact did not please the climate alarmists, so they have gradually been "adjusting away" that global cooling.
If you make the unproven assumption that CO2 levels alone caused all of the mild global warming since 1940, the warming rate was near +1.0 degree C. per doubling of the CO2 level, below the lowest range wild guessed by the IPCC (+1.5 to +4.5 degrees C.). The IPCC behavior of wild guessing conclusions, and then spending all efforts on proving them correct, is data mining -- actually science fraud, with all the "adjustments" to past surface temperatures. That's not real science -- it's junk science!
I don't really care about surface temperature "data", because it includes a lot of wild guess "temperatures" for missing temperature station data, and wild guesses for areas with NO weather stations at all. There is no way to verify if the wild guesses (aka infilling) are anywhere close to reality. We do know the government bureaucrat scientists involved have predicted lots of global warming, and they WANT to tell us they were right -- there HAS BEEN lots of global warming ... and many of their jobs depend on a global warming scare.
The last time I looked, there was no global cooling from 1940 to 1975 in one global average temperature compilation, and another had only -0.1 degrees C. of global cooling. Yes, that's how junk science works -- past temperatures continually change to create more global warming, out of thin air ... while the future climate prediction has not changed since the 1970s, so far, except for each annual prediction being announced with more confidence The confidence level is currently 105% (one scientist of the 20 voting apparently voted twice -- it was a mail in ballot, so no one knows who did it).
Science by a popular vote! There will be a coming climate change crisis, and don't you forget it. because the bureaucrats say so. And the only prevention is a leftist government. And don't you forget it. Because all the bureaucrats say so.

Those arbitrary changes overwhelmingly follow a pattern where temperatures from early years are reduced, and those from more recent years are increased. Instant global warming! Here’s what the changes since 2010 look like when plotted on a chart:
So it appears that people in the past were unable to read a thermometer, because the temperatures they provided were later determined to be "wrong" -- sometimes over 50 years later -- and their readings have to be continually changed , decades later. Junk science at its worst.
