Thank you for 65,000 page views

I retired at the unusually young age of 51, in January 2005. Work wasn't so great, but I wanted to contribute more to society, guided by a Benjamin Franklin quote:

"If you would not be forgotten, as soon as you are dead, either write something worth reading, or do something worth writing (about) "

That's why I write three blogs now, and this is my most popular blog. Thank you for reading. My writing here is guided by my favorite philosopher, Lawrence "YogI" Berra, who once said: "I really didn't say everything I said."

I want to thank the mainstream media for making this blog necessary!  The mainstream media have provided over five decades of biased, anti-science climate, and other environmental, alarmism. They never mention the past 325 years of intermittent global warming, since the late 1600s, that have been pleasant and harmless all the way.  People living from 1650 to 1750 thought it was too cold, especially in the 1690s. They would have been thrilled to live in the climate we have today. Today we are told their climate was perfect.

In 2018, climate perfesser Alexandria Occasionally Coherent (AOC) announced the world would end in 12 years from climate change.  Although older climate perfesser, Al "the climate blimp" Gore, did not second that prediction, he invented the internet earlier in his life, and that was amazing.  High school dropout, and climate perfesser, Greta "thundering" Thunberg, did repeat that 12 year prediction, many times. As a result, she received this blog's greatest honor: 2019 Climate Buffoon of the Year! The bad news is that we only have 10 years left now, but that's more than enough time to read this article, even if you fall asleep a few times while reading.

Unusually wet or dry weather, is blamed on "climate change". Unusually warm weather is blamed on "climate change" too.  But unusually cold weather is just "weather". That's climate alarmism.

With no skepticism, the mass media publish wild guess, always wrong, but always confident, predictions of a coming climate crisis. An imaginary crisis that we have been patiently waiting to happen for 50 years!  Debate is prevented with ridicule, character attacks, and online censorship.

Meanwhile, our current climate is the best climate for humans, animals and plants, in hundreds of years, since the Little Ice Age centuries. Our planet is 'greening' from more CO2 in the atmosphere. Our climate is getting better decade after decade. But for some people, real climate changes since 1975, such as warmer winter nights in Alaska, are an existential climate threat. Beware -- people who try to scare you with wild speculation about the future climate, also want to control you.

The climate of our planet is always warming or cooling.
My one acre property in Bingham Farms, Michigan was covered with an ice glacier just 20,000 years ago. It was completely melted 10,000 years ago, and not by SUVs and coal power plants. At times, between 10,000 and 5,000 years ago, our planet was warmer than it is today, even with less CO2 in the air. But never mind climate history. What we really love is wild guesses about a  scary, imaginary future climate.  Science fiction.

We've heard 50 years of scary, but always wrong, predictions of a coming climate crisis ... that I suspect will be followed by another 50 years of scary, but always wrong, predictions of a coming climate crisis. The climate crisis consists of nothing more than predictions ... made by people who have no ability to predict the climate next year, much less in 100 years.

I'm thrilled with the slightly milder climate here in southeastern Michigan USA, where we've lived in the same home since 1987, and we lived four miles south of here in a large apartment, for seven years before that.  So we don't need a government bureaucrat blabbering about some global average temperature that NO ONE actually lives in. We can observe that Michigan winters are somewhat milder than they used to be. "We don't ned a weatherman.  To know which way the wind blows", to quote Bob Dylan. Our only climate complaint here: We want MORE warming!

But smarmy leftists won't let us enjoy the more moderate climate, and the 'greening' of our planet from more CO2 in the air (CO2 is plant food). They are very concerned about warmer winter nights in Alaska!  So they are busy lecturing and  scolding us normal people about fossil fuels, as they fly around the world on private jets to attend climate change conferences. Well, maybe not so much flying during the COVID-19 pandemic. They just cruised on their yachts this year. Who cares about them?  Not me. I care about real climate science, which is NOT wild guesses, always wrong, about a scary future climate.

We are repeatedly told the global average temperature and the atmospheric CO2 concentration were 'perfect' in the "pre-industrial" times (around 1750), and if you question that 'official' assertion, then you are a 'climate denier'.  But they never tell you the CO2 level in 1750 is derived from air bubbles trapped in ice cores from Antarctica. Far from a precise measurement.

And the temperature back then must be from ice cores, or other proxy studies, because very few weather stations were recording the temperature back then, In fact, there were very few Southern Hemisphere weather stations before 1920,

( see chart below of all land based weather stations that existed from 1891 to 1920.  NASA and NOAA start their data with wild guesses from 1880.  Sea surface temperature measurement locations were not recorded -- a wood water bucket and a thermometer was used in the old days, if you are interested! )

... and too few until after World War II. How can there be a an accurate global average temperature without full global weather station coverage?  Easy. Government bureaucrats just make up the numbers. Wild guesses. They call that process "infilling", because "wild guesses" would not sound very scientific.

Climate alarmists promote two bizarre concepts:
(1)
The climate was "perfect" in the mid-1700s, in spite of the people living then who thought it was too cold. And any change from the mid-1700s, in either direction, is bad news. We only have very rough estimates of the global average temperature, and CO2 level, in the mid-1700s, but never mind that.  And never mind the other 4.5 billion years of Earth's climate. Because the climate was "perfect" in the mid-1700s, and the proof of that is: "We're big shot government bureaucrats with science degrees, and we say so!"

(2)
After 4.5 billion years of only natural causes of climate change, sometime during the 20th century it is claimed that man made CO2 magically became the "climate controller". And natural causes of climate change were suddenly declared too small to care about. The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) deliberately ignores natural causes of climate change. Even though there's no evidence natural causes of climate change have disappeared. And no explanation of why or how that could happen. The claim is just asserted without proof. But it is asserted with great confidence. Skeptics are ridiculed as "science deniers", or "climate deniers", to silence them, and prevent any debate.

Historical temperatures are frequently "adjusted", and "readjusted"  to show more global warming, and better "match" the global warming predictions. NASA-GISS makes hundreds of revisions EVERY MONTH. Most of the surface temperature "data" are contaminated with made up numbers, NEVER verified with measurements. That's called infilling -- I call it wild guessing.

Satellite data are from the troposphere, where the greenhouse effect occurs. Satellites require very little infilling, just for the area over both  poles. You don't hear about satellite temperature data because they show less global warming than surface temperature data. They do show global warming however, so I am not "denying" global warming since 1979, when satellite data began.  I'm celebrating the milder winters (usually) here in Michigan.
