Leftists in government agencies know that fellow leftists outside the government will believe anything they say. So they just make up scary climate stories, and records, out of thin air. This time they said October "could" be a record before the month ended. But that is a lie too, because October 2020 was not even close to a record for London rainfall. No one outside of a climate science blog like this one would ever doubt them. Or think that misleading the public is not really a lie.
Of course most of the scary climate stories are about an imaginary coming climate crisis. We've been hearing that fairy tale for 50 years. And we will probably be hearing it for another 50 years.
LONDON:
Last month’s
London rainfall was not even extreme. The UK Met (meteorological) Office claimed an October record before the month ended. The claim is a lie even though they said "could" be a record.
Ocober 2020 had 142.2mm of rain at Heathrow, in tenth place since 1948. The wettest month was October 1987, the month of the Great Storm. Ocober 2020 was not even the wettest October-- it was fourth
behind 1987, 1960 and 2000. There is clearly no trend in October data.
Kew Gardens has a much longer record, but the Met Office no longer publishes it. KNMI confirms that monthly totals of 160mm and over used to be common. The record of 184mm was set in July 1782.
UNITED KINGDOM:
Nationally, October 2020 was the fifth wettest October.
October 1903 was the wettest UK month since records were kept in 1862. According to the British Rainfall publication, almost the whole country had at least 25 rain days that month.
