Climate Baloney: CNN tries to blame Florida condo collapse on climate change

Almost immediately some in the carbon cult blamed global warming causing sea level rise. NOAA’s data on sea level rise for Miami Beach stopped in 1981. The closest tidal gage data is for Virginia Key, a barrier island south of Miami Beach, about 30 miles south of Surfside.

“The relative sea level trend is 2.97 millimeters/year with a 95% confidence interval of +/- 0.21 mm/yr based on monthly mean sea level data from 1931 to 2020 which is equivalent to a change of 0.97 feet [30 cm] in 100 years.”
The base of the collapsed condo is seven feet above sea level. At current rates of sea level rise, measured by the Virginia beach and Key West tide gauges, it would take almost one thousand years for sea level to reach the base of the condo.
