There is no logical reason to disagree with manmade global warming.
There is much evidence of AGW, with the +50% increase of CO2, from fossil fuel emissions, the C13 to C12 ratio, increasing downwelling infrared radiation measured by satellites and the expected pattern of warming from increased greenhouse gases, at least in the Northern hemisphere:
-- Warming is mainly TMIN at dawn, not TMAX in the afternoon
-- Warming is mainly in the coldest, driest climates -- in the cold, high latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere, in the coldest six months of the year, when there is less competition for CO2, the primary greenhouse gas water vapor.
That's the pattern of warming expected from more greenhouse gases
I am shocked that 99% of scientists do not agree with AGW (manmade global warming), even if they believe AGW is small
But AGW is not what people mean by "CLIMATE CHANGE". What "climate change" means is catastrophic manmade global warming or CAGW. CAGW is imaginary, caused by an imagined water vapor positive feedback that
triples the AGW effect of CO2 alone. CO2 inhibits Earth from cooling itself, resulting in higher TMIN (dawn) temperatures. The warmer troposphere does hold more water vapor. So there is a positive feedback. But it is a mild positive feedback. Lets call it AGW+, not CAGW.
I am shocked that any scientists would believe in CAGW with no evidence of it in climate history, especially after over 50+ years of wrong predictions of CAGW that never showed up.
We have had 47 years of global warming since 1975
It was mild and harmless
Some of the warming was manmade from increased CO2
The exact amount of manmade warming is unknown -- there are too many climate variables to know exactly what each one is doing. But even if 100% of the warming since 1975 was caused by manmade CO2, it was still mild and harmless warming. Unless you believe warmer winter nights in Siberia are a climate emergency.
There are too many Climate Realists who deny AGW
-- THEY ARE SCIENCE DENIERS
There are too many Climate Howlers who believe in CAGW
-- THEY ARE ALSO SCIENCE DENIERS
The following variables are likely to influence Earth's climate:
1) Earth's orbital and orientation variations
2) Changes in ocean circulation including ENSO and others
3) Solar activity and irradiance, including clouds, volcanic and manmade aerosols, plus possible effects of cosmic rays and extraterrestrial dust
4) Greenhouse gas emissions
5) Land use changes (cities growing, logging, crop irrigation, etc.)
6) Unknown causes of variations of a complex, non-linear system
7) Unpredictable natural and manmade catastrophes
8) Climate measurement errors (unintentional or deliberate)
9) Interactions and feedbacks, involving two or more variables.
NOTE 2: The 97% surveys are worded to capture beliefs in AGW, which have been about 97%, but those beliefs are claimed to mean agreement with the IPCC and their CAGW predictions, which is not what the respondents meant.
Many respondents just assume there will be CAGW for use in their studies, such as examining the effects of higher CO2 on plant growth. Assuming CAGW for the purpose of an experiment does not mean predicting CAGW.
These surveys would include me in the 97% because I believe some warming in the past 47 years was caused by AGW. That is far from a belief in CAGW, but I would get binned with the 97%. So you know the surveys started with the 97% conclusion and worded the questions to get to 97%.
