It is the false demonization of carbon dioxide, led by activists, leftist politicians, and the leftist government bureaucrat "scientists" they have hired to play computer games and make scary climate predictions.
Wild guess (wrong) predictions about runaway global warming are used to scare and control ordinary people.

Welcome to the latest boogeyman of the Leftist False Boogeyman Cult -- Climate Change.
The 'Cult' started with DDT in the 1960s, followed by Acid Rain, Hole in the Ozone Layer, Global Cooling, Global Warming, and now Climate Change.
When climate change stops scaring people, there will be a new boogeyman!
Here's the (lack of) "science" in the climate change cult:
(1) 30 years of grossly inaccurate average temperature predictions from computer models that don't work,
(2) Raw temperature data that gets "lost",
(3) Repeated arbitrary "adjustments" of already adjusted historical temperature data, that consistently create more warming out of thin air,
(4) Focus only on surface temperature data, where over half the Earth' surface has no thermometers, so you get to make up the temperature numbers for those areas,
(5) Completely ignore temperature data from weather satellites, weather balloons and Antarctica ice core proxy studies.
Because those methodologies all show less global warming than the surface measurement/wild guess compilations, and
(6) When there was no global warming from the early 2000's to 2015, you panic and offer over 50 explanations why CO2 in the atmosphere could go up over 25% with no global warming = "the pause".
When skeptics mock your false "pause" explanations year after year, in 2015 you suddenly "adjust" the historical data ... and on that day the twelve-year temperature "pause" magically disappeared from the climate history books.
When questioned about the arbitrary warming "adjustments" to ocean surface temperatures made in the year 2015, the explanation is simply: "Because We Have PhD's, and We Say So!"
20 years of climate change reading -- from 1997 to 2017 -- and I still don't know what the climate will be like in 100 years, or in ten years.
No one else knows, but that doesn't stop some people from telling you the future, with great confidence!

After 30 years of grossly inaccurate climate predictions, no one should listen to the climate scaremongers anymore.
I first got interested in this subject in 1997 because there was enough global warming in the 1990s to be concerned.
Two years ago I got tired of hearing ever more scary climate predictions year-after-year, and launched this free blog to refute the "CO2 is evil cult".
CO2 is a wonderful chemical, not harmful.
Adding more CO2 to the air is good news, not bad news.
If adding CO2 to the air causes any global warming, which is not certain, then it will be mild, harmless warming, mainly in cold, dry areas.

The only real science is simple lab experiments.
They suggest a harmless + 1 degree C. of global warming if CO2 levels double -- which would take 200 years if CO2 increases +2 ppm a year (the current rate of increase).
The simple lab experiments are the ONLY real science ever presented by the "CO2 is evil cult" -- everything else is wrong computer model predictions, and scaremongering.
The grossly inaccurate climate predictions are evidence that climate science is still a lot of questions, and few answers.
The scaremongering is political, not scientific.
The political goal is empowering left-wing politicians and central governments to control energy use.
Everyone uses energy ... and leftists love to control people!
The Top Ten Climate Change Facts presented by this "The Honest Global Warming Chart" blog:
(1) The current climate is the best it has ever been for the well being of humans, their pets and other animals.
(2) If we continue to add CO2 to the atmosphere, which I favor for logical reasons, the climate will someday be optimum for green plant growth too (they prefer 800 to 1,200 parts per million of CO2 in the air, versus 400 ppm today).
(3) The claim that CO2 controls the climate is not correct -- it is a minor variable -- in most decades since 1940, there is no positive correlation of CO2 levels and average temperature (using the best available temperature measurements).
(4) Because the causes of climate change are not known with any precision, no one can predict the climate 100 years in the future ... or 10 years ... or even 1 year in the future!
(5) The average temperature of Earth's surface has remained in a narrow one degree C. range since records were kept 137 years ago (1880).
Closer to a 0.5 degree C. range based only on the raw data, ignoring many questionable “adjustments” of historical temperature data made in recent decades.
I'm very very suspicious of "adjustments" that nearly always result in more global warming.
(Note: the temperature range I use excludes the temporary 2015/2016 El Nino temperature spike -- El Nino's are natural, cyclical heat releases from the Pacific Ocean, that are not caused by CO2.)
(6) A one degree C. average temperature range in 137 years is unusually stable for a planet where the climate is always changing (a planet not in thermodynamic equilibrium).
(7) The claim that adding CO2 to the air will cause runaway warming is a hoax.
In fact, it is not obvious from the average temperature data since 1940 that adding man made CO2 has caused any warming!
(A) There was warming from 1975 to 2000 in 'the era of man made CO2' (since 1940).
(B) But that warming was almost the same as the 1910 to 1940 warming from natural causes, before 'the era of man made CO2' began !
(A) + (B) mean nothing unusual happened to the climate since 1940, that looks different than natural climate change ... but that fact does not stop the climate scaremongering.
(8) During 'the era of man made CO2' since 1940, the average temperature has declined (1940 to 1975), increased (1975 to 2000), and barely changed (2000 to 2015), as CO2 increased.
If CO2 really controlled the climate, every decade would have had global warming!
(9) The demonization of the beneficial plant food CO2 foolishly takes attention and funding away from REAL pollution of the air, water and land, which is especially bad in Asia.
(10) Adding CO2 to the atmosphere was, inadvertently, the best thing humans have ever done to improve our planet … along with inventing indoor plumbing, electricity, central heating, air conditioning, and most important, The Three Stooges.
