The Australian Bureau
of Meteorology (BoM)
just created
more warming
out of thin air.
Again.
The BoM made
last summer hotter,
and the distant past
colder.
The BoM used to claim
they had “high quality”
data.
In 2011, BoM decided
their "high quality" data
were not good enough,
and made "adjustments"
called ACORN, version 1
( ACORN v.1 ).
In early 2019,
BoM decided
ACORN v.1
was not
good enough,
and quietly
replaced it with
ACORN v.2.
There was no press release.
The summer of 2018
just got warmer.
Explanation ?
None of your business.
Temperatures in 1910
just got colder.
Explanation ?
None of your business.
In 2011, the BoM deleted
pre-1910 data, and
"adjusted" remaining
early 1900’s temperatures
colder.
A government sponsored
report in 2017 'celebrated'
the 2011 BoM "adjustments".
Then there were more
BoM "adjustments
in early 2019 !
The two adjustment programs
used "homogenization", which
hides bad data by blending data
together -- like shaking a container
of curdled milk, and then claiming
it "looks just fine" !
The example below
is all-Australia
summer averages
(Southern Hemisphere DJF).
The ACORN v.1
warming rate was
+0.07 degrees C./decade
as of the end of 2018,
which was then "adjusted"
in early 2019, and then
the ACORN v.2
warming rate was
to +0.12 degrees C./decade.
The trend may look small, but
the ACORN v.2 "adjustment"
increased the warming rate
trend by +71%, for the period
from 1910 through 2018,
versus ACORN v.2.
