It is said that Crosby was a leftist, drug abuser, and a master at irritating fellow band members. The recently deceased Jeff Beck was a perfectionist who irritated fellow band members. He also switched to fusion jazz I didn't like for most of his career, which irritated me. But I never judge musicians by their politics, drug use, promiscuity or alleged bad personalities. As an audiophile, I judge them by their songs -- both songs they wrote, and other's songs they performed. I have about 2,000 compact discs including about 30,000 songs. Some my favorite songs are by Crosby, Stills and Nash. And some of those were Crosby songs. I'm glad he lived as long as he did, to contribute as much music as he could. Most artists have their best decades when they are young, but then some don't make it past age 30. Buddy Holley died at age 22, for one example. I feel sorry when that happens -- I think he was a young genius for writing and performing so many hits by that age. It seems that any musician who lives to a ripe old age, like Crosby, got lucky. And I got lucky to be able to hear his music. My favorite David Crosby songs, that I will be listening to today and enjoying just as much as when I first heard them:
