Why climate science facts don't change climate alarmists' minds

Most people accept
what they hear
without critical thought.

That means they can allow
their minds to be
programmed by others
who are persuasive,
perhaps from being
in a position of authority,
or being  famous.

Once formed, beliefs are
very hard to change.

After evidence for their beliefs
has been refuted, people
will often fail to make
changes to those beliefs.

In plain English, people often
can’t think straight.

Even the smartest people,
may only be able to think
straight on a few subjects.

They can be irrational about
some subjects they know
little about.

The evidence-free 2.5 year
Trump Russian Collusion
Delusion is a recent example.

There are a shocking percentage
of Democrats who believe Russians
hacked voting machines to help
Trump win !

Any evidence of that ?

Of course not.

There's no evidence that global
warming has EVER been harmful,
after 78 years of adding
man made CO2
to the atmosphere
( roughly since 1940 )

A large percentage
of the population
lack critical
thinking skills.

Most people think by reflex,
most of the time, not by analysis.

Using reason, and objective testing
of hypotheses, is the rare exception
that has allowed modern society
to evolve as it has.

Yet most people think their
intelligence is 'above average'.

Meaning most people believe
they know more than
they actually do.

“Confirmation bias,”
is a very common
tendency for people
to seek, and believe,
information that
supports their beliefs,
while rejecting
all information
that contradicts
their beliefs.

People who can spot errors
in someone else’s position,
may be nearly blind about
weaknesses in their own position.

Confirmation bias does not apply
equally to all human experiences.

It is primarily associated with
negative experiences, and is
a mechanism for survival.

Sometimes people believe
they can predict the future
-- "climate change"
IS really nothing more than
wild guess predictions of the
future climate, always believed
to be bad news, even after 300+
years of good news global warming !

Sometimes there's no boundary
between one person's beliefs, and
beliefs of other members of a group,
such as the climate change "cult".

Unfortunately, strong feelings
about climate change rarely
emerge from a deep understanding
of climate science.

Real climate scientists have no
idea what the future climate will be,
nor do they make wild guesses.

But climate junk science "scientists"
claim they KNOW the future, and
have made scary global warming
predictions for many decades,
completely ignoring actual past
global warming, which was
beneficial !

Those strong feelings may
come from reinforcement
by other members
in the climate change cult,
with the same beliefs.

People usually like to be
part of a group, or team.

People will often state
strong opinions
with great confidence,
in spite of
little or no
obvious knowledge
about the subject.

They can pontificate for a minute,
or two, because they have
memorized a few talking points
( that they don' t really understand,
and couldn't explain ).

Ask them relevant questions, and
patiently wait for a real answer --
you may soon find out their
"knowledge" is either wrong,
or "one inch deep" !

Alexandria
Occasionally
Coherent
is a perfect example.

AOC blindly promotes
an unworkable
New Green Deal scheme,
to stop an unknown
future global warming
event, unrelated  to
actual global warming
since 1940, when humans
began adding lots of CO2
to the atmosphere
from burning fossil fuels.

Scientists should be
the correction
for misinformation,
and groupthink.

Real science requires results
that can be replicated in other
laboratories, by researchers
with no motive to confirm them.

But currently, roughly 50%
of "scientific" studies
can not be replicated !

For climate change,
instead of a good
understanding of past
climate changes, we get
smarmy people making
wrong wild guesses
of the future climate
... and polar bear pictures.

The alarmists try to convince
the people who matter --
those who allocate resources
and make decisions.

If needed, believers
"persuade" the people
who matter with lawsuits.

People tend
to make decisions
on emotion, and
“what’s in it for me”.

Any sales person knows that you
have to get to the "hot button"
to connect with the buyer.

That how leftists "sell"
climate change.

The general population is mostly
ignorant of real climate science.

But they will feel good ,
if they are told they
are helping to save
the planet for the children.

That emotional satisfaction
is their hot point.

Climate change faith
cannot be questioned
if a strong community of
climate zealots "police"
the skeptics using ridicule
and character attacks.

Many people, and
almost all leftists,
have been brought up
on the idea that
the greatest threat
to the Earth is mankind.

The threat
of a climate
change crisis
fits that belief.

Facts that indicate
man-made climate
change, and
increasing CO2
levels in the air,
are beneficial,
as I argue on this blog,
can't be comprehended.

The Precautionary Principle,
( we may be wrong,
but do what we tell
you to do anyway ! )
is not precautionary,
or a principle.

It's an unsupported confirmation
bias, that humans are a threat
to the planet.

It is used as a tool of manipulation,
and has no rational foundation
to support it.

Negative reinforcement
inducing fear, is an
extreme emotive power.

That's why "climate change"
consists of scary, always wrong,
predictions of a coming catastrophe,
used to induce fear.

I try my best,
but changing minds
about climate change
is very difficult.

I believe people
need to be shown
they've been misled
about climate change,
by deliberately false,
and deceptive data
and information from
government bureaucrat
scientists, and politicians.

That allows people
to shift the blame,
for their faulty
"climate knowledge",
to someone else.

Which makes it easier
to change one's mind
about climate change.
