A new study,
sponsored
by the UK
government,
by UK FIRES,
is called
"Absolute
Zero" ( AZ ):
AZ calls for
all UK airports,
other than Heathrow,
Glasgow and Belfast,
to be shut by 2030,
and those three
shut by 2050 !
Because there are
no practical alternatives
for zero emission flight.
As UK FIRES points out,
even with rapid growth
of renewables,
the UK will still need
to cut energy use 40%,
even before air travel
and shipping are
factored in.
And that's not including
any population increase.
The recommendation
from UK FIRES is to
have 40% fewer cars
on UK roads.
The report ignores
the high CO2 footprint
in building electric cars
in the first place.
UK FIRES expects
people to buy
heat pumps,
which are much
more expensive
than conventional
furnaces.
Even if heat pumps
were effective in the
middle of winter,
the power grid
could not cope
with the spike in
electricity demand !
People will have to
give up eating beef
and lamb too !
Cement will be
phased out.
They want to ban
all imports by 2050,
unless they can come
in via rail,
which might be
a problem given that
the UK is an island !
The authors say
the UK must be
responsible for
all emissions
from the production
of imported goods.
Nowhere in this
report is it even
mentioned that
the UK generates
only 1% of global
CO2 emissions.
The huge impact and cost
of the UK Climate Change
Act has been deliberately
hidden from the public.
