Will German Climate Protection Plans Last After The COVID-19 Crisis ?

German 'greens' and socialists
have been calling for ramping up
climate protection efforts,
to stimulate the economy
after the COVID-19 meltdown.

Germany’s economy appears
to be in its worst recession
in post-World War II history.

10.1 million people in Germany
registered for reduced work hours
by April 26, far beyond the
forecasts of economists.

But going more 'green'
puts further burdens
on the economy
-- that is not the answer
in a post COVID-19 world.

EU climate protection plans
were developed in a time
of full employment.

Now many EU nations face
mass unemployment.

Via video link, Chancellor
Angela Merkel said climate
protection would not be pushed
off the political agenda
in the EU, and would be
“just as much
on the agenda
as health issues”.

But "renewables" require
expensive infrastructure
investments, to provide
expensive ( even after
government subsidies )
and intermittent electricity.

Does that sound needed
in Germany, and elsewhere,
after the economic shutdown
declared by politicians
in the EU, to slow the spread
of COVID-19 ?
