SUMMARY:
Google News and others in the mass media report wild guess climate predictions as real news. So do local newspapers. They never note that long term climate predictions, over the past five decades, have proven to be junk science. Fake science, based on the long term climate prediction batting average of near zero in the past five decades.
In the real world, global warming has brought better climate conditions, and record crop production. Yet the leftist media deceives people. Because truth is not a leftist virtue. Maybe I should be happy about that, because that's why I started this blog in 2014? Well, I hate lying, so I had to do something.
In reality, an unknown world for leftists, California crop production is so strong that CA farmers are complaining their high yields are depressing crop prices! It seems that a century of modest warming has created BETTER growing conditions. Crop production is setting records almost every year in Southern California, the whole state of California, the entire United States, and globally. For which more CO2 in the air, and a slightly warmer climate, NEVER get any credit.
Google News, and other climate alarmists, however, are warning about climate change harming future California crop production, and bringing “hard times” to California farmers. It seems that for leftists, the future climate can only be bad news. They've been predicting that bad news for 50 years in a row.
A few scientists believed the same thing in the late 1950s, but global average temperatures had been falling since 1940, so they didn't make public predictions. But don't worry, the global cooling from 1940 to 1975,originally claimed to be from 0.3 to 0.5 degrees C., even as CO2 levels rose, is gradually being "adjusted" away by government bureaucrats with science degrees. One global temperature compilation already shows no cooling in those years. The decades later "adjustments" are junk science.
A good news crop production forecast for the current year is rarely headline news, But a very likely to be wrong bad news wild guess forecast about crop production far in the future is big news? Scary climate change predictions are confidently presented as facts, based on the usual appeal to authority logical fallacy, and out of context ... such as avoiding any mention of the actual good news crop production trends now in progress.
DETAILS:
An August 2020 article in the Bakersfield Californian was titled, “Climate change report forecasts hard times for Kern ag.” The article summarized a new report produced by a climate alarmist activist group, working with California state officials. The report claimed climate change is setting up bad conditions for California agricultural production.
The Bakersfield Californian wrote: “A new report warns Kern County agriculture will face tough challenges in the decades ahead as climate change makes irrigation water scarcer and weather conditions more variable and intense. The study concludes these hurdles ‘ultimately challenge the ability to maximize production while ensuring profitability.’”
THE TRUTH: In Kern County, CA, total crop value set a new record in 2019, up 3% from 2018. Fresno County’s total crop value rose 12% in 2018 to briefly overtake Kern County as the nation’s top-grossing county for agricultural production. But Kern County’s 2019 growth reclaimed the title. Other California counties are also thriving. The Bakersfield Californian newspaper had no interest in reality -- but scary, wild guess predictions of a gloomy climate future get published.
2020 California crop production is predicted to set new records. The Sacramento Bee's had an August 5, 2020 article titled, “This is what harvest of a 2020 record 2020 almond crop looks like.” The Bakersfield Californian reported the same thing last month: “Almond growers fret over expectations for another record harvest.”
The Californian article said record almond production was causing lower almond prices, making it harder for farmers to profit from their crop. The article also said February’s almond tree blooms were “close to perfect” , under ideal temperatures and climate conditions. The newspaper failed to give any credit to climate change’s role in creating the close-to-perfect climate conditions, and record almond production.
US 2020 Crop Production Forecast:
The U.S. Department of Agriculture forecasts record crop yields this year for the important corn and soybean crops. This builds on consistent growth in U.S. crop production and records being set almost every year. For which more CO2 in the air and a slightly warmer climate NEVER get any credit.
Global 2020 / 2021 Crop
Production Forecast:
The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) forecasts the global 2020/2021 crop season will set yet another record for global crop production. FAO reports global crop production increased over 10% during the past decade. For which more CO2 in the air and a slightly warmer climate NEVER get any credit.
