United Nations Report on Climate-Related Disasters is a Disaster

A new United Nations report on The Human Cost of Disasters could not find an increasing trend of climate-related disasters. If you are a leftist, that's not good -- there ALWAYS has to be trouble ahead. Leftists always start with a conclusion. This time they had to ignore their ow data -- the publication by the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), on page 10, Figure 5 (below) shows that “climate-related” disasters have declined over the past 20 years (2000-2019).

The UN report was published to mark the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction on October 13, with the goal of claiming extreme weather events are dominating the disasters of the 21st century. From 2000 to 2019, there were 7,348 major recorded disaster events claiming 1.23 million lives, affecting 4.2 billion people (many more than once) resulting in approximately US $2.97 trillion in global economic losses.

It should be obvious that economic growth creates more homes, offices, factories, etc. every year. So there are more assets every year that could be damaged by the weather. Meaning the amount of damage, in Dollars, is likely to rise over time, even if the number of disasters remains the same.
The rising trend could be even bigger if you didn't adjust for inflation.
