"Earth sizzled to hottest year on record in 2014" … ?

That was the Detroit Free Press title for an article by Seth Borenstein of the Associated Press (AP). It was on page 4a of the January 17, 2015 Detroit Free Press.

Here's the first sentence of the Free Press article:
"For the third time in a decade, the globe sizzled to the hottest year on record, federal scientists announced friday."

The article was deliberately designed to tell you what your conclusion about climate change should be.

All contradictory data were ignored.
.
Explanations of the data were excluded.
.
People who don't believe the conclusion were repeatedly character attacked in the article.
.
Skepticism, which used to be the primary characteristic of good scientists, was treated as ignorance.

Here's an alternative title and a short article written by someone else, describing Earth's climate without bias, and without falsely assuming he knows what the future climate will be:

"Earth's average temperature up less than 3% in past 134 years -- all measurement methodologies show temperature trend has been flat for at least the past 12 years."

The estimated average temperature in 2014 was a mere 1.5 degrees F. higher than in 1880. Half the small rise was before 1940, and definitely not caused by manmade CO2. Over any 134 year period, Earth's average temperature will either rise or fall. Only staying the same would be abnormal for our planet.

In the past 4.5 billion years there were only 22 years, from 1976 to 1998, with manmade CO2 and average temperature significantly rising at the same time. That short period is presented by some people as "proof" more CO2 in the air causes the temperature to rise. But they will never tell you, or don't even know, independent ice core studies in Greenland and Antarctica both revealed in the past one million years temperature peaks were consistently FOLLOWED by CO2 peaks 500 to 1,000 years later.

And did your favorite media source ever bother telling you the average temperature FELL from 1940 to 1976 as CO2 rose? And fell again from 1998 through 2014 as CO2 rose, if you look at the accurate weather satellite data the global warmists pretend does not exist?

I think you should be wondering why the Associated Press deliberately decided NOT to provide you with the basic climate history information I've just provided, but found plenty of space in their article to repeatedly character attack climate "deniers".

You should be concerned if media sources you prefer have never thought it was important to tell you EVERY measurement methodology used in the world has shown a flat temperature trend since 2002. And some weather satellites show no warming trend for 18 years.

The IPCC spins this as a "pause" and never mentions 100% of computer climate simulations failed to predict any pause. I call this "pause" a major contradiction of the unproven greenhouse gas theory.

The cult-like belief in a coming global warming crisis is based ENTIRELY on computer simulations that have consistently demonstrated no predictive ability in the past 35 years.

Computer simulations are not data, and when there are no data, there is no science.

The belief in a coming climate catastrophe is anti-science climate astrology used to support a political agenda.

Do you think it makes sense to base political and economic decisions on computer simulations with no demonstrated predictive ability?

In 2007 Al Gore claimed all Arctic sea ice could be melted by 2014.

But in August 2014, Arctic sea ice extent (area) was 63% HIGHER than in August 2012 (30% or more ice coverage data from the Danish Meteorological Institute -- 42% higher based on 15% ice coverage data).

Antarctica sea ice extent (area) repeatedly set new cold weather records in 2014, since satellites began collecting data in 1979.

In the 1970s climate models insisted polar ice would be melting rapidly in the coming decades.

Don't you deserve to know the predictions were wrong?

Al Gore, who took only two elementary science courses in college, and couldn't manage to get an A or B grade in either of them, has not yet had a press conference to apologize for his reckless scaremongering in 2007.

Yet many leftists treat him as the "pope" of climate science.

And why did the Associated Press use the word "sizzling" to describe an average temperature in 2014 of 58 degrees F. ?

Since when is 58 degrees "sizzling"?

The margin of error is VERY optimistically claimed by NASA to be +/- 0.1 degrees F., so why did they present the average temperature for 2014 with two decimal places?

That's BAD SCIENCE.

Bad science, but good propaganda … the second decimal place was desperately needed to claim a new record in 2014.

Based on rough estimates, shamelessly presented in hundredths of a degree, 2014 was claimed to be a mere one-hundredth to four-hundredths of a degree F. warmer than the prior record in 2010 … while the NASA press release completely ignored the more accurate weather satellite data which show 1998 as the hottest year they have measured since data were first collected in 1979.

Would an honest writer call an increase of one and one-half degrees in 134 years, and a 2014 average temperature just a few hundredths of a degree warmer than the prior record in 2010, "sizzling"?

The article had roughly 12 inches of column space and there seemed to be plenty of room for many character attacks on everyone who doubts predictions of a coming climate catastrophe we've listened to for 45 years in a row … while the average temperature has barely changed.

Never mentioned in the article:
(1) Predictions of a coming CO2 climate catastrophe are based ONLY on wild guess computer games that have grossly overestimated global warming for 35 years so far.

(2) The average temperature of Earth is ALWAYS changing. There is no reason for anyone to claim a slight change in 135 years is abnormal, much less dangerous.
.
Starting with very rough measurements in the 1800s, with thermometers that tended to read low, and ending with rough estimates in 2014, the average temperature has barely changed.
.
And most of the minor warming since 1880 may be measurement error.
.
Even more interesting is most of the warming from the late 1970s to late 1990s was during winter nights in the northern half of the Northern Hemisphere.
.
There was little warming measured by weather satellites in the Southern Hemisphere, and Antarctica actually got colder.
.
Your favorite media sources don't think you need to know that because "global warming models" predicted CO2 would warm both poles most … and Antarctica apparently wasn't listening !

The coming climate change catastrophe is a fantasy designed to manipulate people -- it was perfectly summarized by MIT climate scientist Richard Lindzen years ago:

“Future generations will wonder in bemused amazement that the early twenty-first century’s developed world went into a hysterical panic over a globally averaged temperature increase of a few tenths of a degree, and, on the basis of gross exaggerations of highly uncertain computer projections combined into implausible chains of inference, proceeded to contemplate a roll-back of the industrial age.”
