The recent press release from NASA claiming 2014 was the warmest year on record was the least honest government announcement on the climate I've read since I began following the subject in 1997.

This NASA press release is the latest BIG LIE from the Obama Administration:

We were told 2014 is the hottest year on record.
.
We were led to believe this is really bad news, and proof that increasing CO2 in the air is leading to a climate catastrophe that only harsh new government regulations can prevent.
.
The truth is that Earth's climate has improved significantly since the last ice age peaked 18,000 years ago and the warming since then was not caused by CO2.
.
Of course the UNs IPCC does not claim CO2 caused the ice age to end, nor was CO2 held responsible for any warming before 1940.
.
The rising amount of manmade CO2 in the air after 1940, the IPCC insists, was the sole cause of a small amount of warming since then -- the first time CO2 allegedly caused warming in 4.5 billion years of Earth's existence.
.
And the proof of this is … because they say so.
.
One way to prove rising CO2 might cause warming is to demonstrate a correlation between CO2 and Earth's average temperature.
.
No correlation exists.
.
CO2 rose from 1940 to 1976, but the average temperature fell (non-global surface measurements).
.
CO2 rose from 1998 through 2014, but the average temperature fell (global weather satellite measurements).
.
But never mind 1940 to 1976, and never mind 1998 to 2014.
.
Manmade CO2 and average temperature did both rise from 1976 and 1998 (weather satellite measurements starting in 1979).
.
And that's proof … of nothing: It's just a short 22 year period, and the ONLY time in 4.5 billion years that manmade CO2 and average temperatures rose at the same time.
.
ALL measurement methodologies of the average temperature have been flat since 2002 -- in plain English that means there has been no global warming since 2002.
.
So the NASA claim that the 2014 average temperature was two-one hundredths of a degree C. warmer than the prior peak in 2010, using only one of the three different measurement methodologies in use, and ignoring the other two, … means nothing.
.
There have been cool years since 2002 too -- why not focus on them?
.
When you use a moving average to create a trend line there has been no rising (warming) trend for at least 12 years (up to 18 years for one of the weather satellite data compilations, which NASA completely ignores, even though they own the satellites!)
To make sure the 2014 climate headline scared people into demanding their government DO SOMETHING, a huge amount of information and data had to be omitted from the NASA press release and every article summarizing it.

I hope you realize for almost all reporters who want continued access to the Obama Administration, "investigative reporting" means nothing more than double checking the spelling of names in official press releases before summarizing them for publication.

Here are the top ten climate facts omitted to keep the government climate message "pure" and misleading: Falsely imply that if the climate is getting warmer, then rising CO2 levels MUST be the cause, and something MUST be done:
(1) If 2014 was warm, then what other years has it been compared with?
.
Well, there are only 135 years of rough estimates of the average temperature -- all these years are during a warming trend -- and there are no real-time average temperature data for 99.999% of Earth's 4.5 billion year history before that.
(2) Earth is ALWAYS warming or cooling.
.
Climate writers always seem to "forget" that fact.
.
There is EXTREMELY strong evidence of repeating mild warming/cooling cycles during the past one million years from Greenland and Antarctica ice core studies, and other climate proxy studies.
.
NO climate proxy studies show Earth's climate always stays constant,
.
(3) Earth has significantly warmed since the last ice age ended 18,000 years ago.
.
Manmade CO2 did NOT end the ice age.
.
That means Earth has warmed in the past without any human cause(s).
.
Since the last ice age ended, sea level has risen over 400 feet from melting ice, and will continue to rise until the next ice age begins.
.
Sea level rise has NOT accelerated during the Modern Warming.
.
(3) Based on ice core and other climate proxy studies, Earth had a cooling trend from about 1350 to 1850, and a warming trend since 1850.
.
The 1850 Modern Warming was NOT started by manmade CO2.
.
Once again that means Earth has warmed in the past without any human cause(s).
.
(4) Very rough attempts to estimate Earth's average temperature began during the current warming trend.
.
Since ALL measurements have been made during a warming trend, record warm years will be common until the warming trend ends.
.
A record warm year during a warming trend tells us only ONE thing -- the warming trend is still in progress and has not yet changed to a cooling trend.
.
Based on ice core studies, a warming trend could last many hundreds of years more, or end tomorrow -- no one knows the future climate.
.
(5) Record warm years are nothing to fear because the average temperature has barely changed in the past 134 years -- up a mere +1.5 degrees F., even though the starting point is late 1800s thermometers that consistently read low, exaggerating the warming.
.
After many cool centuries, which people hated based on the writings they left behind, the Modern Warming since 1850 is a return to a more moderate temperature -- a change that all smart people ought to be celebrating, rather than smart left-wing people using it for political gains.

Half the Modern Warming was before 1940 and can NOT be blamed on CO2,
.
(6) NASA "forgot" to mention their own weather satellites did NOT measure record temperatures in 2014 -- they continue to identify 1998 as the warmest year they've measured since launch in 1979.
.
(7) The mainstream media "forgot" to mention NASAs press release said there was only a 38% probability that 2014 was REALLY the warmest year, because it was a mere two hundredths of a degree C. warmer than 2010.
.
(8) The mainstream media "forgot" to ask NASA why they presented the 2014 average temperature with two decimal places, showing hundredths of a degree, when they very optimistically claim the margin of error is +/- one tenth of a degree.
.
Too many decimal places is BAD science, but GOOD propaganda, falsely implying great precision that does not exist in the raw data.

(9) The mainstream media "forgot" about the poor accuracy of past "environmentalist" predictions, ALL of which were 'life on earth will end as we know it' predictions of coming catastrophes.
.
Remember the gloomy predictions about acid rain, the hole in the ozone layer, and many other false environmental threats starting with the insane demonization of DDT in the 1960s that led to millions of deaths from malaria in the world's poor nations?

In spite of the fact ALL these predicted catastrophes never happened, and no one even talks about them anymore, almost no one in the mainstream media today expresses even the slightest doubt predictions of a coming climate catastrophe could be wrong.

For some reason the mainstream media ignore solar physicists, astronomists, archaeologists and geologists who study the Earth and see no unusual climate patterns in the past century … while climate modelers who play computer games and have been making wild guess predictions of a coming climate catastrophe for 45 years are treated as prophets, and given government grants to play more computer games, and make more scary predictions the next year.

(10) The mainstream media "forgets" plain common sense when it accepts predictions of the future climate using computer games, as if computer simulations were real scientific data (and as if humans had ever before demonstrated the ability to predict the future)
