Today's climate is unusually cool, not unusually warm, per ice core studies

The UN's IPCC claims
CO2-caused global warming
in the second half of
the twentieth century
was unprecedented
in the past millennium.

But IPCC’s claim that
  “it is extremely likely
that human activities
have caused most of
               (at least 50%)
the observed increase
in global average temperatures
since the 1950s”
... is not a believable claim !

   First reason:
The global warming
from 1975 to the early 2000s.
that accompanied a CO2 rise,
was similar to the warming
from 1910 to 1940,
a period in the same century,
when there was
far less man made CO2
added to the atmosphere !

   Second Reason:
Through Earth’s geologic history,
major ice ages have occurred,
with ten in the past one million years.

Each lasts about 90,000 years,
most likely due to changes in
planetary geometry,
followed by a warmer
10,000-year interglacial period.

“Unprecedented” warming today
makes no sense when the
current average temperature
is compared with the
warmer temperatures
during the four prior interglacials,
based on ice core analyses.

Temperature data
derived from ice cores,
from the Russian Vostok
drilling station in East Antarctica,
provide a 420,000-year history
of Earth’s near-surface
air temperature
and CO2 concentration.

The IPCC uses the
CO2 concentration data
derived from the ice cores,
but completely ignores
the temperature data !

Here's why ice core
temperature reconstructions
are ignored by the IPCC:

This Vostok, Antarcrtica
ice core record
covers the current
interglacial period,
called the Holocene,
and four preceding
interglacials.

The current interglacial
is, by far, the coldest
of the five most recent
interglacial periods.

The four prior interglacials
averaged more than 2°C warmer
than the one we currently live in.

Atmospheric CO2 concentrations
during all four prior interglacials
never rose above 290 ppm,
while the air’s current
CO2 concentration
is over 400 ppm.

Even warmer temperatures,
for the past three interglacials,
have been obtained
from the Dome Fuji ice core,
extracted from a site in an
entirely different section
of East Antarctica,
1,500 km. from
the Vostok ice core.

Based on ice core proxy studies
of the past half-million years,
today's average near-surface
air temperature
is NOT unusually warm,
but is unusually COOL,
despite more CO2 in the air.

And at the end of
each of these
prior ice ages,
Earth’s air temperature rose
well before any increase
in atmospheric CO2.

The air’s CO2 content
did not begin to rise until
400 to 1,000 years AFTER
the planet began to warm
during an interglacial.

If the IPCC was correct about
"unprecedented" warming
from greenhouse gases,
then Earth today
should have
higher temperatures
compared with the
prior interglacial periods.

But Earth is cooler today,
not warmer, according to
ice core analyses !

The coming global warming "crisis"
is nothing more than a scary fairy tale,
based on the unlikely boogeyman of CO2
(CO2 is actually the staff of life),
and is not supported by real science !
