SUMMARY:
The ACORN series of the
Bureau of Meteorology
includes 112 temperature
measurement stations
in Australia.
New “ACORN 2″ adjustments,
that the Australian Bureau
of Meteorology quietly released,
claim the coldest mornings
back in 1910 were even colder
than anyone measured at the time !
This is the second large batch
of "adjustments" in six years,
increasing global warming by 23%,
from the "adjustments" alone.
About one third
of the warming
of the Australia
average temperature
since 1910 is due to
man-made
"adjustments"
to the raw data.
Comparing AWAP
( semi-raw data )
to the latest
ACORN2 data,
the average
temperature
increase
(warming)
is up from
+0.08 C. per decade
to +0.123 C. per decade.
That’s a 50% increase
of the claimed warming
rate per decade
from "adjustments"
to the actual raw
temperature
measurements !
And that's
a lot of
adjusting !
temperature
measurements !
And that's
a lot of
adjusting !
DETAILS:
Darwin, Australis's
temperature record
was the only location
in central northern
Australia, where
temperature had been
measured since 1895
from a thermometer
in an instrument shelter.
The Darwin record
includes temperatures
taken at Darwin post office
from 1882 until 1941,
and from the Darwin airport
from 1942 to the present.”
The Australian Bureau
of Meteorology seems to
have no interest
in the hot pre-1910 era.
On January 1,1910, the
maximum temperature
recorded at the
Darwin, Australia
post office, was
34.2 degrees C.
It was later "adjusted"
to 33.8 C, and now it is
32.8 C. ?
The "adjustments"
estimate what
historical temperatures
would have been
if they were recorded
with today’s equipment
at the current site.
It was assumed that the
raw temperature record
for Darwin, Australia
must be wrong(?)
because it showed
a general trend
of cooling to about 1950,
and then warming.
But that was
not unusual
for Australia,
where scientists
back in 1952
were discussing
how Australia
had cooled in
the 20th century.
DOWNWARD adjustments
to the older records
were applied to account
for differences between
the older site, and the
current site, and also for
differences between
older thermometers,
and the current
automated sensors.
-- But there are two
good reasons for
UPWARDS adjustments
that were ignored:
(1)
Adjustments for all
the economic growth
in the vicinity of the
thermometers,
such as new concrete
and bricks, for new roads
and buildings, airports,
air conditioners, etc.,
( now called the urban heat
island warming effect ),
means old thermometers
in the years before
all the economic growth,
need to have their temperatures
adjusted UP, not DOWN.
(2)
And what about the all new
'one-second-records' from
modern electronic equipment?
The old glass
thermometers
couldn’t measure
a one second blast
of hot air from a
nearby airplane,
as a modern
instrument
located at
an airport
could do.
The old slow acting
mercury thermometers
need to be adjusted UP,
not DOWN, to compete
with sensitive electronic
instruments.
But historic "adjustments"
go DOWN, far more often
than they go UP, which creates
"global warming" from the
"adjustments" themselves,
and none of it makes sense !
When raw temperature data
are "adjusted", you no longer
have real data.
You have numbers that
someone thinks are what
the temperature data
WOULD HAVE BEEN,
if measured "correctly"
in the first place.
