My prior article
may have confused
may have confused
one French
weather station
with a nearby station,
weather station
with a nearby station,
having the same name,
which may have had
the 45.9 C. high that day.
The station I looked at
had temperature records
online -- the nearby station
did not.
The station I looked at
had a "feels like"
high temperature
of 45.9 C. for the day
-- that may have been
a coincidence.

The station
I assumed
I assumed
claimed the
record heat
record heat
of 45.9 C.
had data online
that showed
a maximum
a maximum
44.1 C. actual
temperature,
and a maximum
and a maximum
"feels like" 45.9 C.
temperature.
But there were 10 other
stations that beat the old
44.1 C. record, so that
"on the roof" station
did not seem to matter.
A nearby station
with the same name
did not have data online,
so it was not obvious
it was in operation.
One thermometer
was on a hot roof,
and the other nearby,
was near a large
building, and
black asphalt
parking lot.
Poor siting for
both instruments.
Here's one example
of French
summer temperatures:
2019 vs. 1947 Paris Airport
daily maximum temperatures:
both instruments.

Upon further investigation:
There have been
newspaper articles
listing two times that
French temperatures
were hotter than the
claimed heat record
of 45.9 C., allegedly
set June 28, 2019.
And I'm going to assume
people were smart enough
to read a thermometer
for the 1930 example below,
and too smart to place it
on a hot roof !
And
50.0 degrees C.
is so far above
45.9 degrees C.
that I don't
give a damn
if the 1930
temperature
was from an
"official"
weather station
or not !

1930 = 122 degrees F. = 50.0 degrees C.
1773 = 118 degrees F. = 47.78 degrees C.
