California Governor Gavin Newsom recently signed a new executive order, declaring “by 2035 we will eliminate in the State of California the sale of the internal combustion engine.” The goal was to eliminate affordable and reliable cars and trucks. California life is not cheap. Teslas are not cheap. People who buy electric vehicles, such as Teslas, get tax credits. And 80 percent of federal electric vehicle tax credits were claimed by people making $100,000 a year, or more. The Babylon Bee satire website “reported”: “State with No Electricity Orders Everyone to Drive Cars on Electricity.”
The internal combustion engine enhanced our standard of living 160 years after its invention. According to the U.S. EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), over the last 30 years, research helped car and truck manufacturers to reduce internal combustion engine emissions of criteria pollutants by 99%, to comply with EPA emissions standards.
California’s is only about 7 percent of the way to achieving its 2030 electric-vehicle goal ... so they have set a more unrealistic standard of 100 percent by 2035 ?
I had not mentioned in a previous article on this subject that Governor Gruesom, I mean Governor Newsom, also told reporters he was committed “to phase out fracking” in California. Hydraulic fracturing, better known as fracking, and horizontal drilling, are responsible for a doubling of U.S. oil and natural gas production since 2008.

A large quantity of U.S. natural gas production using fracking lowered gas prices and, along with stiffer regulations on coal burning during the Obama years, led to declining coal use to generate electricity.
The result of using more natural gas, and less coal, was reducing overall U.S. carbon dioxide emissions to generational lows, and less air pollution too. President Barack Obama praiseed fracking, saying “because of new technologies, because we can now access natural gas we couldn’t access before - in an economic way - we have a supply of natural gas under our feet that can last America nearly 100 years.”
President Obama's Energy Secretary, Ernest Moniz, said natural gas was “part of the solution, ... the natural gas boom, in particular, has led to the displacement of high-carbon coal with low-carbon natural gas producing fewer [carbon dioxide] emissions.”
California relies on hydraulic fracturing for affordable and reliable energy. Almost two-thirds of California homes and apartments use natural gas for home heating, and almost half of the state’s utility-scale electricity generation is from natural gas.
In 2018 the oil, natural gas and petrochemical industries provided 181,000 direct jobs in California, while contributing $83 billion to the state’s economy. So where is the logic for Governor Newsom's anti-fracking technology proposal? Leftists ruin everything they touch.
